About the North Shore Chamber Choir
The North Shore Chamber Choir (NSCC) was founded in 1996 by Jeffrey Schneider (founding conductor), for the purpose of
raising money to restore the historic pipe organ at All Soul's Episcopal Church in Stony Brook. Originally a choir of 16 voices,
the NSCC has produced fall and spring seasons each year since 1996, presenting both classical and contemporary choral programs.
Seasons are comprised of 13 weeks of rehearsals and between 2 and 4 public (free and ticketed) performances. In addition the NSCC
has provided a yearly performance of the Christmas portion of the Handel's Messiah for the annual Port Jefferson Dickens Festival for the
past 25 years.
Our Mission Statement: to cultivate and further the art of choral singing; to develop the musical talents of its members; and
to provide entertaining public performances of choral music.
We are a group of avocational singers, performing choral music from a variety of genres, with a special affinity for the
works of the 18th and 19th century masters. It is our intention to bring our skill and enthusiasm for performing
challenging and intruiguing choral arrangements to community venues throughout Suffolk County, as well as providing
performance opportunities to young, aspiring musicians in our area.
Membership in the Choir is by simple audition. If you love to sing, please come see us. The Choir rehearses (on
Tuesday evenings) at the First Presbyterian Church in Port Jefferson.
The North Shore Chamber Choir is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Your contributions to the Choir should be tax-deductible, and are
greatly appreciated.
