Meet the Interim Conductor

Eric Blatt, our Interim Conductor, is a veteran teacher and conductor who has spent the majority of his 26-year career teaching High School Choir, Music Theory and Advanced Placement Music Theory at Mount Sinai High School. Additionally, Mr. Blatt taught Music History, conducted the Jazz Choir and small ensembles, and has stage/vocally directed the high school musicals. He is now building an incredible Choral program at the 5th-8th grade level while also teaching General Music to 5th and 6th grades. Mr. Blatt has spent the last 12 years proudly conducting with the Brookhaven Choral Festival.

Mr. Blatt's choirs consistently scored well at NYSSMA majors as well as receiving highest marks in Choir competitions in both Virginia and Philadelphia. His choir premiered the work, "There Shines a Light Ahead," by composer/pianist Jeffrey Biegel, and also worked with composer/conductor Michael Bussewitz-Quarm.

Mr. Blatt is a passionate supporter of music education that continues to advocate for both his students and music program.

He is a graduate of the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, where he studied Music Education with a Vocal concentration from the studio of Dr. Carleen Graham.
